1. What is the UKCA logo?
UK Conformity Assessed Marking (UK conformity assessment) is a new product mark launched by the UK, which will replace the use of the CE mark in the UK market.
2. The scope of application of the UKCA mark
It is used in England, Wales and Scotland, but not in Northern Ireland (Northern Ireland uses the UKNI mark or continues to use the CE mark), covering most of the products that previously required the CE mark.
With Brexit, the CE certification is no longer used as an access mark for the UK market, and the UKCA certification is adopted as a mandatory access mark for products in the UK market.
3. When will the UKCA logo be used?
For electrical and electronic products that have the same UK and EU rules:
Before January 1, 2021
Products put on the UK market do not require any logo updates.
From January 1, 2021
You can use the UKCA logo.
Before January 1, 2022
During the one-year transition period, the CE mark can still be used. The CE mark is only valid in areas where the UK and EU rules are the same. If the European Union changes its rules, products with CE marking based on the new rules cannot use the CE marking in Great Britain during the transition period.
From January 1, 2022
The UK will not recognize the CE mark. Products with the CE mark can only be sold in the UK if the product bears the UKCA mark and complies with the relevant rules of the United Kingdom. That is, the product with the CE mark can be used on the product at the same time as it meets the UK and EU regulations and does not block each other. And the UKCA logo.
4. How to use the UKCA logo?
◆ Appoint an authorized representative or person in charge in the United Kingdom. From January 1, 2021, the United Kingdom will no longer recognize authorized representatives and persons in charge in the EU.
◆ Products affixed with the UKCA mark must be drawn up and signed by the manufacturer or its authorized representative with the UK Declaration of Conformity (UK DoC). It should be noted that the UK Declaration of Conformity (UK DoC) should list UK regulations (BS standards) rather than EU regulations (EN standards).
◆ Technical documentation must be maintained for 10 years after the product is put on the market.
◆ The height of the UKCA logo is at least 5mm (unless relevant laws specify a different minimum size), and the logo is clearly visible and must be permanently attached from January 1, 2023.
◆ UKCA logo transitional measures: Before January 1, 2023, you can choose to affix the UKCA logo to the product or attached documents. From January 1, 2023, in most cases, the UKCA logo must be affixed directly on the product.
◆ For products that use the self-declaration method to affix the CE mark, the same method is allowed to affix the UKCA mark.
5. Who is an institution accredited by UKCA?
The NB announcement body originally established in the UK will automatically become a UK-approved issuing agency, and the approved announcement body will maintain the same 4-digit identification number as it is now.
